This Plush Tower Brings True Pampering to Retirement

Chef Stephan Pyles, dubbed the father of modern Texas and Southwest cuisine, formally announced today that he is partnering with Ventana, Dallas’ first luxury high-rise senior living community.
Pyles will be opening five new concepts at the community, including a fine dining restaurant, a casual Mediterranean bistro, a Sky Lounge and bar, a juice bar, and a cafe.
Ventana by Buckner will be located at 8401 N. Central Expressway. It’ll be a dual, 12 story tower building with 189 apartment suites and 27 different floor plans. Other amenities will include a spa, movie theater, salon, and modern wellness and fitness center by Cooper Wellness.
“This partnership has been a long time in the making,” Pyles says. “I’ve never seen an assisted living place like this. And I know a number of folks moving in.”
Pyles notes that this new project is completely geared towards his base. His diners will be in a high-end, luxurious setting, much like his current restaurants Flora Street Cafe and Stampede 66. “But I will bring food to them instead of them coming to me,” he says.
The fine dining spot in Ventana will be a small, 44-seat restaurant and a sort of steakhouse. It’ll serve all of Stephan Pyle’s “greatest hits.”
The Mediterranean bistro will change monthly, varying with cuisine from different regions of the Mediterranean. Power bowls and protein shakes will be available at the cafe. Pyles says that there will also be the potential to do in-room parties for residents.
Rick Pruett, the executive director of Ventana, says that the highest priority for people in senior living communities is culinary and dining.
“The age group has spoken with dining as a key priority,” Pruett says.
Eighty percent of the living community is already pre-sold and move-ins will begin in mid to late August.
