Cult Coffee Favorite to Open a New Shop in Renovated North Texas Shopping Mecca: Caffeine Power Joins the $125 Million Mega Makeover

Cult fave Dallas coffee shop Ascension — known for its handcrafted java beverages, farm-to-table menu, and heavily Instagrammed avocado toast — is opening a second annex location in Plano this September.

In addition to its standalone stores in the Dallas Design District, Crescent Court, Thanksgiving Tower, and Frisco’s The Star, Ascension also operates one other annex cafe (essentially, a smaller version of the real deal with more limited offerings) at Fountain Place near the Dallas Arts District.

Located at The Shops at Willow Bend, which is currently undergoing a massive $125 million renovation to include an Equinox Club and chef John Tesar’s Knife restaurant, among other additions, the newest Ascension will offer coffee, beer, wine, pastries, and to-go lunch options.

Among the restaurant’s classic fare are the soppressata and fig jam panini, salmon Niçoise salad, and various boards of cured meats and artisan cheeses.

“Ascension believes in creating an environment where communities can gather, discover, and share, so opening a location at The Shops at Willow Bend was a natural decision for our brand,” founder Russell Hayward says in a statement.

While we wait for the annex to debut this fall on the lower level between Neiman Marcus and Dillard’s, a pop-up is currently open between Neiman Marcus and Macy’s to tide over eager patrons.
