A wise man once said happy hour is the best hour, and we concur. Who can resist flowing light bites and libations touting a discounted price tag? From a French-Vietnamese social hour to $5 Sardinian pizzas, we’ve rounded up some of Houston’s newest, cant-miss happy hour specials.
Get your eat and drink on at these 10 Houston restaurants and bars.
Showcasing authentic Sardinian cuisine, Arcodoro has been a staple Houston restaurant for nearly many years, but the Post Oak eatery is always refreshing and revamping its menu offerings especially when it comes to happy hour.
Patrons can indulge in Arcodoro’s $5 pizza happy hour special every Wednesday from 4 to 10 pm. Of course, a bevy of drink specials and light bites are also available. 5000 Westheimer Road, arcodoro.com.
Balls Out Burger
If you’re a fan of Balls Out’s no frills burgers, you’re in luck. The recently opened Heights eatery has added happy hour, which will offer a $10 burger deal — a single burger with fries and a soda — from 3 to 6 pm, Monday through Friday.
It’s a steal considering a burger and fries can cost upwards of $15 at Balls Out. 1603 North Durham Drive, ballsoutburger.com.
A PaperCity favorite, Eloise Nichols offers stand out happy hour deals in charming, chic surrounds. Indulge in $7 house cocktails (one is even served in a gold, pineapple tumbler), or opt for beer and wine, which is all $1 off during happy hour.
A bevy of discounted small plates also complement the libations. We’re partial to the caramelized Brussels sprouts and the $5 burger. 2400 Mid Lane, eloisenichols.com.
Upstairs at Hungry’s Rice Village
Head to Hungry’s revamped Upstairs Bar and Lounge for happy hour Monday through Friday, from 4 to 7 pm. Specials include Texas drafts for $4; select wine and cocktails are $5 to $6 (think everything from frozé to mojitos); and a variety of appetizers are all under $10.
If you’re looking for a little something extra, Hungry’s also offers weekly drink and food specials, like Monday Mules and Martinis by Ketel One ($7), Tuesday Steak Night ($16), UnWINEd Wednesdays, and more. 2356 Rice Boulevard, upstairsbarandlounge.com.
If you haven’t visited Kiran’s new location at Kirby Grove, a trip to the restaurant’s posh bar is a great place to start.
From 4 to 7 pm, patrons can experience Kiran’s Indian-centric bar bites menu, which includes small plates such as lamb, chicken, and veggie hot dogs topped with spicy tomato chutney; calamari accompanied by vindaloo aioli; kale and spinach chips served with tamarind chutney; and plantain and coconut-crusted shrimp.
Also on hand is a diverse cocktail menu which showcases the classics as well as whimsical libations like the Rose Martini, the Chai Ginger Collins, and the Delhi Daquiri. 2925 Richmond Avenue, kiranshouston.com.
For posh interiors and Vietnamese cuisine, head to Le Colonial in River Oaks District to experience its new Social Hour. Le Bar Bites include everything from cha gio, crispy rice paper spring rolls to pork belly banh mi and canh ga nhoi thit, pork and mushroom stuffed chicken wings — all for $8.
Exotic cocktails also make an appearance on the Social Hour menu. We’re can’t get enough of the Red Buffalo, a mix of vodka, muddled strawberries, Thai basil, and Thai chili. 4444 Westheimer Road, lecolonialhouston.com.
Local Foods Downtown
If you only frequent Local Foods for grab-and-go salads and sandwiches, think again. The brand’s newest Downtown location not only touts an extensive raw bar program (a first for Local Foods), but it’s also showcasing a diverse happy hour menu.
Enjoy $4 Texas canned beers, $5 glasses of select wine, and $6 libations crafted with Texas wells, as well as a collection of small plates like $3 oyster shooters and warm edamame dip are also available.
Diners can take advantage of Local Foods’ happy hour offerings every weekday from 3 pm until close and all-day Saturday and Sunday. 420 Main Street, houstonlocalfoods.com.
If you’re looking for a casual, chic neighborhood kickback, look no further than Pax Americana. The restaurant’s new happy hour, which is offered Tuesday through Sunday from 5 to 7 pm, touts restaurant favorites like Korean red pepper pork ribs and Panzanella salad for a discounted price.
Classic cocktails will run you just $5 each alongside $7 glasses of select wine. Pax is also offering $2 off its specialty summer cocktails. We recommend the Hi Tea-Ki made with hibiscus tea, rum, almond milk, and Jamaican bitters, served in a festive tiki glass. 4319 Montrose Boulevard, paxamericanahtx.com.
Relish Restaurant and Bar
