Ramen Mania Grips Dallas

Top-notch Guest Chefs Drawn to Scene — and a Certain Restaurant Mecca

BY Samantha Klaassen // 04.12.17

Continuing its immensely popular pop-up series, “Uncommon Ramen,” which hosts guest chefs on the last Monday of the month, Dallas restaurant Top Knot will welcome chef Misti Norris on Monday, April 24.

The former executive chef at Small Brewpub, Norris is known for her modern Southern cuisine. Her collab kicks off at 5 pm, with $15 ramen bowls plus beer pairings from Community Brewing. In true philanthropic fashion, Uncommon Ramen always donates a portion of its proceeds to No Kid Hungry.

If you’ve never tried the series (which, trust us, is worth checking out), now is prime time as the ramen revolution seems to be taking over across the country. Plus, Top Knot’s airy second-floor space offers the perfect friendly, neighborhood vibe. Fusing flavors from Southeast Asia, Latin America, and Japan, the restaurant also offers Japanese whiskey, draft beer, and sake on tap.

Past 2017 Uncommon Ramen chefs include Hai owner and chef Tyson Cole (founder of Top Knot’s downstairs neighbor Uchi) and Franklin Barbecue‘s Aaron Franklin.

“It’s been great for our Top Knot team to experience the creative energy of the visiting chefs,” says Angela Hernandez, Top Knot’s chef de cuisine. “We have a blast together, and our customers enjoy seeing new talent and experiencing that energy, too.”

A ramen dinner is also planned for Monday, May 22 at 5 pm; details to come.
