Beloved Coffee Shop Adds a New Texas Location, Unveils the Craziest Expresso Machine Ever: A New Lean Green Caffeine Wonderland
BY Natalie Gempel // 09.08.17Good news for caffeine addicts of Dallas: One of the city’s favorite coffee shops is expanding its reach this fall. Houndstooth Coffee is heading north with a brand-new, trendier-than-ever location in The Hill shopping center off 75 and Walnut Hill Lane. The outpost is currently being constructed on site at sustainable home improvement store TreeHouse, and is expected to open sometime in Fall 2017.
The Austin-based coffee shop chain is often praised for its friendly baristas and serious beverages. This will be its fifth location overall, and third in Dallas. Houndtooth’s original DFW location is on Henderson Ave, and it opened a second in West Dallas development Sylvan Thirty a year ago.
“This cafe, located right on US-75, will certainly be more accessible for our friends and fans in the Richardson and Plano communities, and we look forward to inviting new guests into ‘the Pattern of Coffee and People,’” Sean Henry, founder and owner of Houndstooth Coffee, said in a statement.
Taking a cue from its eco-friendly neighbor, Houndstooth is going green with its new location.
The shop will be situated in two charming and tiny Lake Flato-designed porch houses, which are being built using sustainable materials and practices. The outpost will also be powered by solar energy.
“When curating the businesses that surround our Dallas flagship location, we sought to work with like-minded operators and are excited to be partnering with another Austin-based business that has found success in Dallas,” said Jason Ballard, CEO TreeHouse.
The new cafe will be the first in Texas to boast a Mavam Espresso machine – a very posh-looking brewing contraption with a low-profile interface, allowing the customer to get an up-close look at the drink preparation process while interacting with the barista.
In addition to its new Dallas location, Houndstooth is preparing to open a third Austin cafe this fall.
