Houston Restaurant Weeks Menus and Participating Restaurants Revealed — A Number of New Hotspots Jump Into the Foodie Holiday

Mark your calendars and start meal planning as August 1 marks the return of the much-loved extended foodie holiday known as Houston Restaurant Weeks. To whet the appetite, the menu site went live today, which gives foodies an early look at many of the participants and the menus they will be offering.

New this year are Acme Oyster House, Daily Gather, Chivos, Eloise Nichols, Giorgio’s, Gratify
Neighborhood Bistro, Indianola, III by Wolfgang Puck, MAD Houston, Rosalie, Roka Akor and Toro Toro. With more new restaurants to be revealed, The Annie Cafe & Bar, B&B Butchers, B.B. Lemon, BB’s Tex Orleans, Bistro Menil, Brennan’s of Houston, Brasserie 19, Brasserie Du Parc, The Capital Grille, Copper Osteria, El Meson, Heralds, Hearsay, Le Colonial, Perry’s Steakhouse & Grille, Maison Pucha Bistro, Ouisie’s Table, ROMA, Rainbow Lodge, Trattoria Sofia, Traveler’s Table, Tony’s and Vic & Anthony’s are all set to return.

More than 250 restaurants are expected to participate in Houston Restaurant Weeks this year overall.

The eating bonanza begins August 1 and runs through Labor Day (September 5), with the effort once again benefiting the Houston Food Bank, which works to feed those experiencing food insecurity in the Houston area. In total, this city-wide event has raised $17.6 million and served more than 52 million meals since its much more humble 2003 beginning.

From the Galleria to the Inner Loop, West Houston to the East End, Downtown to Sugar Land (not to mention Galveston and The Woodlands), participating restaurants will be offering specially priced, three and four course prix fixe menus — many at brunch, lunch and dinner. Best yet, for every meal served, the participating restaurants give anywhere from $2 to $6 directly to the Houston Food Bank.

Created by the late food writer and radio personality Cleverly Stone, the foundation that bears her name is continuing the work she started when she founded Houston Restaurant Weeks. The construction company Tellepsen has joined on as a new sponsor this year.

“For 113 years, Tellepsen has had a responsibility to give back to the community that has given us so much,” Tellespen CEO Tadd Tellepsen says in a release. “We exist to build projects of significance that positively impact the community. The Houston Food Bank is one of the highest impact organizations in the community.

“When the opportunity arose to help support them through a partnership with Houston Restaurant Weeks, we were all in. We wanted to recognize the importance of the work done by the Houston Food Bank and The Cleverley Stone Foundation.”

Cleverely Stone’s daughter Katie Stone is helping keep this crucial foodie tradition going.

“The past couple of years have been extremely difficult for the restaurant industry, impacted by the pandemic, supply chain, labor issues and the rising cost of food and packaging,” Katie Stone, president of The Cleverely Stone Foundation, says in a statement. “Surely, it is the most difficult time for restaurants, employees, and the Houston Food Bank. We are hopeful that demand for dining and a return to normalcy will have Houstonians dining out and doing good this summer.

“The event’s economic impact on the area is seen not only in an uptick in spending on food but also in industries and suppliers of restaurants – from food, spirits and wine distributors to valet companies, linen services, third-party delivery services and other manufacturers that supply goods. The positive effect of HRW is far and wide.”
