Italian Job Brings Scratch-Made Pastas and True Chef Power

A new Italian street food restaurant with scratch-made pasta is coming to mega food hall Legacy Hall in Plano. The Italian Job will open this Friday, November 1 on the first floor, right next to Beijing Brothers.

The very first location, coming from executive chef Clifford Barratt, will serve eight variations of fresh pasta dishes. With a focus on bringing old-world tradition to the modern, the fast-casual market will make pasta daily with high quality ingredients. Pasta options include Spaghetti, Casarecce and Tagliatelle, as well as a healthier Zucchini noodle option.

“There is an energy about The Italian Job that can best be described as ‘veloce,’ meaning quick,” Barratt says. “Our chefs strive to deliver high-quality, fresh pasta at a grab-and-go pace perfect for a Food Hall atmosphere. We are thrilled to test this concept at Legacy Hall.”

Born and trained in South Africa, Barratt has spent a decade cooking for award-winning spots including restaurant, store and market, Old Town Italy in Pretoria, South Africa. Before this, Barratt has opened three Italian food hall concepts in Indiana including a coffee shop and patisserie, a Neopolitan pizza stall and an homage to the Italian meatball.

With nine dishes on the menu at the new Italian Job, all are offered for under $10. These include Renzo’s Pasta, made with casarrecce, Mamma’s Red Sauce, bacon, bell peppers, chili and cream, and Cacio e Pepe with spaghetti, pecorino, parmesan and black pepper.

Two options are made with the tagliatelle pasta — Pasta Alla Scorglio (shrimp, rosa tomatoes, lemon, basil, chili and olive oil) and Tagliatelle Bolognese. There’s also an eggplant parmesan called Melanzane alla Parmigiana and The Meatball Bowl, which is a shared plate with focaccia bread and choice between Mamma’s Red Sauce or Dijon sauce.

Besides fountain soda, the restaurant has a sea salt green tea on the menu. Kids meals include a spaghetti with sauce, with an option to add meatballs.

The Italian Job will be open Sundays to Wednesdays from 9 am to 11 pm and Thursdays to Saturdays from 9 am to 1 am.
