New Uptown Dallas Grocery Store Lets You Drink While You Shop
Sushi, a Coffee Shop and a Wine Bar are All Part of Tom Thumb's "Urban Grocery" Experience

A new Tom Thumb has opened its doors at The Union at 2300 N. Field Street in Uptown. Besides the Whole Foods on McKinney Avenue, this grocery store is really the only place to buy fresh produce and meats in the area.
Designated as an “Urban Grocery” experience, Tom Thumb at The Union offers a walkable option to grab your groceries, a bite and a drink.
The store is offering specialty prepared foods, a wine bar, Starbucks and on-site pharmacy. At The Union Tap, local beers and wines are available, including choices from Deep Ellum Brewing Co., Peticolas and Lakewood Brewing.
Bartenders will provide you with plastic cups so that you can drink while you shop. I like this idea, but it could be dangerous if you’re like me and being tipsy makes you want to buy all of the Cosmic Brownies, Bugles and Pizza Rolls in the store.
Food-wise, there’s a Grill Bar with burgers and sandwiches, and an Asian Infusion and sushi bar with poke bowls. Outdoor seating make it a great place for a coffee or lunch break.
The Union is a brand-new mixed-use development that already includes The Henry and TacoLingo. North Italia is also expected to open in May. The Christopher is the new luxury apartment tower in the area and nearby office spaces offer incredible views of the Dallas skyline.
More is expected later this month, including Japanese restaurant Minami Sushi and Creamistry, the liquid-nitrogen ice cream chain. Underground garage parking is available if you’re driving and can be validated at the grocery store.
