You might say that gregarious restaurateur Ben Berg is a party animal. Consider that when it came time to celebrate the second anniversary of his wildly popular B&B Butchers & Restaurant (a Beyoncé fave), he threw a “partini.” That would be a bash centered around $100 martinis benefiting the Amschwand Sarcoma Cancer Foundation.
On this weeknight, the second floor party space and deck were as packed as the downstairs bar and dining room with more than 200 eager revelers making the scene.
“This is our two year anniversary plus Missy and all the girls from Amschwand. I wanted to give back so I included them,” Berg said. “They brought out their great crowd and their supporters and we have our very good customers and supporters.”
Known for his second-floor fetes, Berg pulled out the stops bringing in Swift + Company to dress the place up in volumes of green and white, creating a rooftop garden feel. “I said we’re gonna blow it out, change it up a little bit. Belvedere bars. And I like to throw a big party,” he explained. “I love parties right? I’m in the position to do it, so let’s have a great party.”
That included his famous passed hors d’oeuvres, open bar, a lavish display serving raw oysters and King Crab legs, cheese and charcuterie boards and a buffet dinner of sliced tenderloin, seared tuna, B&B’s Mac & Cheese and lobster fried rice. And for the late-night crowd who stayed and danced to the Richard Brown Orchestra, there was a hot dog bar.
Between the $100 martinis and a live auction, the party raised more than $28,000 for the foundation’s work. In addition to a commemorative martini shaker, that C-note martinis also garnered guests a raffle ticket for a $16,750 aquamarine and diamond cocktail ring, contributed by Tenenbaum Jewelers. Blogger Lyndsey Zorich was the lucky gal who went home with the bling.
