The competitive stance between Houston and Dallas became a lot cozier when Dallas fashion maestro Brian Bolke and his powerhouse team introduced his wildly popular Forty Five Ten to Houston. On a night when the city was hopping with retail parties, none could compete with the hipster vibe emanating from the celebration at River Oaks District’s newest resident.
Bolke, president and co-founder of the high-luxe lifestyle boutique with three Dallas locations, breezed onto the Houston scene along with a coterie of design and fashion stars that literally lit up the night. Consider the fashion world’s favorite artist Donald Robertson who was in from New York to sketch his cheeky illustrations on candles from The Starling Project, a Forty Five Ten exclusive benefiting UNICEF. Among those briefly trading Dallas for Houston were DJ Lucy Wrubel rocking the night with her spins, blogging sensation Tina Craig aka Bag Snob, Forty Five Ten women’s fashion director Taylor Tomasi Hill, and the boutique’s men’s fashion director Nick Wooster.
Guests partied in the all-glass, 3,300 square foot space surrounded by Bolke’s picks of the season while his luscious lips logo, imagined in red balloons, danced overhead. Lucky for all, it was a perfect night that allowed the overflow to spill out onto the courtyard where the bubbly flowed as freely as the Casa Dragones Joven tequila, audaciously served in champagne flutes.
Basking in praise for the new store was architect David Droese, who has designed each of Bolke’s boutiques. Another Dallasite making the scene was Alberto Lombardi of Lombardi Family Concepts (Toulouse and Taverna also in River Oaks District), which provided the party fare.
