Diamonds, Denim, Two Veronicas and Goop Collide in One Happening Highland Park Village Party: Dallas’ Chic Elite Get Into Jean Jackets

BY // 09.05.18

The modern girls’ two best friends are, no doubt, denim and diamonds. The first fills most of the open real estate in Dallas’ most fashionable closets; the second packs the jewelry boxes. In partnership with Goop, Veronica Beard — the sportswear label founded by sisters-in-law Veronica Miele Beard and Veronica Swanson Beard — hosted a Southern-inspired cocktail event to toast the label’s Fall 2018 collection.

Dallas’ elite (see: Melanie Charlton Fowler, Heather Anderson, Cathy Williamson, Debi Spear, Katie McFarland, and Lauren Morgan Roscopo) joined the two Veronicas at Goop’s Highland Park Village location to celebrate Veronica Beard’s new Denim & Diamonds collection — a run of chic pieces inspired, of course, by the Lone Star State.

Veronica Beard is already a go-to label for many Dallasites, as it strikes the balance between classic and cool. The label, which opened its first Dallas outpost in Highland Park Village last year, offers a modern perspective on iconic staples, resulting in clothes that are functional for real life: perfect for carpool to Hockaday; then on to a charity lunch at Forty Five Ten; and ending with a glass of cab at twilight on the Honor Bar patio.

No surprise then that guests flocked to Goop, where they were invited to customize Veronica Beard jean jackets with embroidery by Fort Lonesome, a Texas-based embroidery company. I love that the whole event felt a bit like a chic summer camp arts activity. Given that many likely did something similar in their adolescent years at Camp Waldemar, it seemed full-circle. (BTW: Goop paid homage to the famous all-girls summer camp in a recent online feature — a well-deserved nod to the Holy Grail of Texas sleepaways.)

When posed with her take on the evening, attendee Brooke Davenport proclaimed, “Who doesn’t love fun cocktails and chic ladies dressed in a touch of Texas denim?” Capera Ryan, also in attendance, chimed in: “I can’t think of a better partnership than the Veronicas and Goop. So proud of my friends.”

For those of you dear readers who have yet to drink the GP Kool-Aid, here’s the scoop: Goop is the megawatt company owned by the Gwyneth Paltrow. The private jet setting mom to Apple and Moses, actress and influencer launched the lifestyle brand in 2008. It began small as a weekly email newsletter providing on-trend advice for women — health, wellness, fashion and the like.

Then, things exploded and an eponymous lifestyle website was later added. Next came e-commerce with fashion house collaborations, pop-up shops, an annual wellness summit, even a print magazine. One of those pop-ups popped up in Highland Park Village this past April. And since, flocks of Gwyneth devotees descend upon the store in search of products deemed worthwhile by the anointed one.

Hot tip: The store will remain open through the end of 2018 as PaperCity first reported in July. Many, we hear, are now lobbying GP to keep Goop a permanent mainstay of Highland Park Village.
