PC Moment: Harris County Judge Ed Emmett and wife Gwen received the inaugural Champion Award for their ongoing community leadership and volunteerism. Their efforts at improving the city for all include not only longtime support of El Centro but also of numerous other charitable organizations.
Applause, applause for luncheon chairs Diane Englet and Cyndy Garza Roberts and honorary chairs Leisa Holland-Nelson and Leila Perrin for their efforts that raised more than $120,000 for the nonprofit that aids the medically-underserved, particularly those living in the East End.
Heading the program was emcee Art Rascon of KTRK ABC13, El Centro CEO Marcie Mir, and keynote speaker, native Texan John Quiñones, ABC News veteran and host of What Would You do?
Who: State Senator Sylvia Garcia, Gloria Bounds, Margaret and Joel Shannon, Roxann Neumann, Suzan Deison, Dana Kervin, Cissy Abel, Dr. Kelly Larkin, Michele Leal Farah, Ginger Blanton and Beckie and Gaspir Mir.
