Party at Paul’s Turns Into Jewel of a Charity Preview, Draws a Who’s Who and a Fleet of Big Boy Toys

This is No Ordinary House and No Ordinary Cause

Jewel Charity is always a fabulous affair, but another great one — leading up to the main event, is the Men’s Party. Recently held at the home of longtime organization supporter Paul Dorman it was a who’s who of Fort Worth. Aptly dubbed, “Party at Paul’s” it was the ticket to be had as seen by the massively long queue of luxury, boy-toy cars snaking their way up Shady Oaks Lane towards the valet.

Dorman’s well-appointed mid-century modern home, designed by famed architect A. Quincy Jones, Jr., would make any historic preservationist drool. To intrigue guests before they entered the main event, an assortment of vintage cars lined the home’s large circular driveway. After checking out and perhaps posing for a photo for future posting on social media next to one of those slick automobiles, attendees were greeted at the door by gorgeous event co-chairs Janis Brous, Teresa Hubbard and Olivia Kearney.

I’m over-the-moon that given PaperCity‘s new Fort Worth print magazine and daily website, I get to attend so many local events and get selfie moments with one of my favorite girls, Olivia Kearney. She never fails to deliver when it comes to an entrance-making dress and jewelry. Olivia and Janis were in florals that were more beautiful than any garden I’ve ever encountered.

Another fashionable moment came in spotting ever girl-on-the-go Michelle Marlow looking like a cross between a chic socialite and one of Charlie’s Angels in a flawless one-shoulder blue jumpsuit. (Was that jewel blue by the way?)

Since this was a “Men’s” event there were no frilly finger foods, but rather hearty fare (who doesn’t want to hang out near a seafood display with amazing prawns?) that was generously supplied by B&B Butchers & Restaurant. In between catching up with friends that they hadn’t seen perhaps since their last round of golf or hunting weekend, guests shopped items provided by Bachendorf’s and Beretta Gallery.

It seemed like the perfect combination as I do recall a Fort Worth girlfriend sharing with me once that it was her feeling that whenever her husband bought a new rifle, that meant she deserved a new piece of jewelry.

The night saw $40,000 raised for precious patients at Cook Children’s by incoming Jewel Charity members who sold raffle tickets to generous guests. Now, many are eagerly awaiting the main event on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at Dickies Arena.

Jewel Charity president Lou Martin has chosen the theme, “One Enchanted Evening,” for Fort Worth’s longest-standing black-tie event alongside this year’s ball co-chairs Anne Paup and Sally Prater. Time to start hunting down the perfect dress for the affair. Might I suggest one of the glorious creations which made their way down the Valentino or Giambattista Valli runways?

Too many high-profile guests to mention were in attendance at the Men’s Party, but a few to come to mind include Rick Merrill, president and CEO, Cook Children’s Health Care System; Lou Martin and Nick MartinMichelle Marlow, Jewel Charity president-elect and Dr. Scott Marlow and Cook Children’s chairman of the board, Jerry Conatser and Cheryl Conatser.
