Homemade Hope Tugs at the Heartstrings in This Starry Houston Gala
By Shelby Hodge //
What: Homemade Hope‘s “Home Is Where the Heart Is Gala”
Where: The third floor ballroom at Big Brothers Big Sisters headquarters
PC Moment: Homemade Hope students (children living in homeless shelters) provided their own handmade table decorations at each table while Kroger provided the florals. KTRK Channel 13’s Katherine Whaley served as emcee to the evening chaired by Adam Greer and Margot Delaronde.
The highlight for many was the introduction of honorees by Claire Cormier-Thielke. She did the honors praising City Controller Chris Brown and his wife, Divya Brown, both recognized for the considerable contributions to making the city a better place. (The much-admired Cormier-Thielke and her husband, Rick Thielke, are headed to Hong Kong where she will join the Hines team. It’s a prestigious appointment that has friends both overjoyed for the couple and saddened to have them moving half way around the world.)
DJ John McLaughlin provided the beats while guests supped on dinner from DINE Catering and Events, sipped on libations from the Stoli group and puffed on stogies at the outdoor Gurkha Cigar Lounge, which offered fab nighttime views of the downtown skyline.
Who: Angela and Owen Daniels, Kristy and Chris Bradshaw, Sima and Masoud Ladjevardian, Yvonne and Rufus Cormier, Chita and Lane Craft, Regina Rogers, Chris Wadley, Isabel and Danny David, Maria and Graham Lowery, Kristen and John Berger, Dr. Sheena Garner, Tiffany Halik, and Beverly and Bart Bentley.
