Houston’s Most Elaborate Halloween Costumes

The Boo Ball Brings Out Much More Than the Scary

BY // 10.29.18

Just like when we were kids, not everyone at the Ronald McDonald House “Boo Ball” wanted to dress as a Halloween monster. Sure there were witches and warlocks prowling the hallways of the Hilton Americas-Houston on Saturday night, but there were also princesses, characters from Alice in Wonderland, and a number of guests who opted for black-tie, the only alternative to costuming.

More than 700 joined the merriment, led by chairs Stephanie and Anthony Milam, that raised $970,000 for RMH Houston. KHOU Channel 11’s glam meteorologist Chita Craft emceed the evening. These three in the spotlight, including Craft’s husband Lane, went the black-tie route.

In the scary department, we would give Russ Bierschbach a prize for his unsettling take on the Grim Reaper. Ryan Herbst and Iryna Romanenko contributed Addams family creepiness to the party, he as Cousin Itt and she as Wednesday Adams.

Once dinner and the live auction (Rusty Mertink with the gavel) were finished, The Society Band took the stage. The dance floor quickly filled with goblins, UH cheerleaders and Day of the Dead’s La Catrinas and El Catrins.

PC Seen: Lesha and Tom Elsenbrook, Cathy and Shahab Parva, Lynda Underwood, Jerry Ann and Victor Costa, Dr. Gale Kennebrew, Gayle Harper, Kelly and Mike VanDerSnick, Meredith Kelly, Eliza Klein, Megan Milam, Sarah Donohoe, Laura Murillo and Rick Noriega, RMH CEO.
