10 Great Last-Minute Halloween Costumes: The Procrastinator’s Guide to Killing at Any Halloween Party With What You Already Have in Your Closet

BY // 10.28.18

Halloween is quickly approaching and the spooky parties are in full force. Some of us have been intensely preparing for this day all year and have already perfected our outfit. Most of us procrastinated to the last minute and are scrambling for an idea.

We’ve come up with 10 Halloween costumes that you can throw together with items already in your closet. These are the best last-minute Halloween costumes:

Indiana Jones/Adventurer

This is my personal choice for this year. I already own an olive safari romper, brown boots and a brown cross-body bag that resembles a place to hide a whip, treasure and whatever else Indiana Jones might need or pick up along the way. The only thing I had to scrounge up was a brown fedora-type hat.

I like to have a unique, somewhat difficult to interpret, twist to my costume idea so I’m going as IndiAnna Jones from when Anna Kendrick played Indiana Jones for Red Nose Day in 2015.

Tom Cruise in Risky Business

This one’s a classic and is so simple. All that is required is a long pink button-up (long to cover up those legs as much as possible cause it’s gonna be chilly), briefs or boxer briefs, sunglasses and white tube socks

Rosie the Riveter

Embrace your inner powerful woman and dress up as this memorable cultural icon. For this one, all you really need is a denim or chambray button up shirt s0 that you can roll the sleeves up and show off those bicep muscles, and a red bandana.

Any dark colored pants will do. If you happen to have a denim jumpsuit, even better.

The Brawny Man

For guys, or girls, that love a comfy flannel on a cool October night, the Brawny Man is an easy costume creation. Pull out your best red flannel and blue jeans and there you go. Pick up a roll of Brawny paper towels on the way to the party and you’re all set.

Eleven from Stranger Things

This one is a fun one because you get to carry around Eggo Waffles and possibly eat them as a snack just like Eleven from Netflix hit Stranger Things. The outfit includes a light pink dress, a blue jacket, white high socks and white converse.

To add extra effect, add a little fake blood under your nose to resemble the iconic nosebleed. Easy peasy. RIP Bob Newby.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer

To celebrate the upcoming television sequel of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, be a slayer for Halloween. Slayer attire includes really any leather pants and leather jacket. To resemble the classic Buffy, go with red leather pants, a black tank and black leather jacket or trench coat.

A cross necklace and vampire-killing stake would also be a good addition.

Mr. Rogers

After the Won’t You Be My Neighbor documentary came out this year, people were reminded of how much they loved Fred Rogers. Honor the man by wearing a cozy sweater, shirt and tie for Halloween. For the classic Mr. Rogers look, make it a red zip-up sweater.

Mime

With this one, if you don’t feel very chatty, you can get away with not saying a word all night. Practice your miming skills and dress up in a black and white striped shirt, black pants and a beret if you have one. White gloves and face paint are an added plus.

Roger Federer

If you already play tennis, this one should be super easy. For a classic Roger at Wimbledon look, wear a white polo, white shorts, white tennis shoes, and white headband and wristband. Bring along your tennis racquet if you so choose.

’90s Kid

Always a classic and super simple, the ’90s kid attire includes a wardrobe of grunge. Overalls and a flannel tied around your waist are a good start. Add on a backwards hat and converse high-tops and you’re good to go. And if you saved any of your awesome choker necklaces for special occasion, here’s your chance to show it off again.
