What: Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation’s Young Professional Group‘s gala kickoff
Where: The rooftop of White Oak Music Hall
PC Moment: It’s never too early to celebrate, apparently, as this enthusiastic group of gala host committee members and honorary chair Houston Texan Whitney Mercilus gathered to stir up interest in the September 22 Jungle Book Gala. Gala chairs Alexa Bode and Will Finnorn were among the lively group that sampled hand-rolled cigars from Embajadores Fine Cigars, hors d’oeuvres, and a whiskey tasting by TX Whiskey.
In keeping with the literacy focus, authors Jennifer and Kyle Solak were on hand to sign copies of their book, Goodnight Houston.
Feeling bookish: Former Houston Texan Wade Smith, Gwendolyn and Wade Parks, Morgan Relyea Colt and Walker Colt, Julie Baker Finck and Ron Finck, Caitlin Rance, Kia Austin, Carly Colton, Grace Gosnell, Amy and Kyle McCully, Kathaleen and Steven Walton, and Chloe Rushing.
