Houston Texans Star Previews a Hot New Restaurant
Super Art Jazzes Up the Sneak Peek
By Jailyn Marcel //
What: VIP reception and art unveiling with Houston Texan Whitney Mercilus and artist Charles Fazzino
Where: Bosscat Kitchen & Libations
PC Moment: A tony crowd of 100 gathered at the soon-to-open Bosscat Kitchen for an exclusive art unveiling honoring Super Bowl LI. Crafted by artist Charles Fazzino, the officially-licensed commemorative 3-D painting was unveiled to the invite-only crowd by Houston Texans linebacker Whitney Mercilus.
The $15,000 painting was donated to Mercilus’ WithMerci Foundation, which provides advocate services and support to families of children with disabilities and special needs, and was auctioned later that week at a Super Bowl week charity event — the Bulls & Blackjack Celebrity Poker tournament.
While art ruled the first half of the exclusive event, it was Bosscat’s flavor-packed fare that had the crowd buzzing by the end of the night. Guests were granted a sneak peek of the Newport Beach-based restaurant’s culinary chops with petite portions of marinated beef short rib served with kimchi potato salad; pimento cheese deviled eggs; shrimp BLT sliders; and the Bosscat barbecue pulled pork sandwich.
The whiskey-centric restaurant is expected to make its official debut later this month.
Who: Houston Texans linebacker Whitney Mercilus, artist Charles Fazzino, former Houston Texans offensive lineman Wade Smith, Houston Texans linebacker Darryl Sharpton, NFL Network’s James Palmer, SportsTalk radio’s Lance Zierlein, KHOU’s Ron Trevino, Bosscat Kitchen and Libation owners John Reed, Leslie Nguyen, and Vinnie Capizzi; Blair Bentley, Ursaline Hamilton, Angela Lipsey, Connor and Emily Tamlyn and Holly Kuhn.
