PC Moment: Event founder Ruchi Mukherjee announced the dozen leading ladies who will be honored at the sixth annual International Mothers Day Soirée, set for May 11 at the Asia Society Texas Center. While guests applauded the women from various cultural backgrounds, they also helped Elijah Rising, which is dedicated to end sex trafficking, with their purchases, as a portion of sales were dedicated to the non-profit.
And the honorees are Grammy winner Yolanda Adams, Audrey Toll (mother of KPRC Channel 2 news anchor Dominique Sachse), Mona Khan, Dr. Alice Mao, Gia Merlo, Britta Merwin, Maria Morales, Tia Neyman, Dallas Rowden, Rashi Vats, Laurette Veres and Christina Zhou.
As Mukherjee noted in her remarks, the purpose of the evening is to bridge the gap between Houston’s rich ethnic and mainstream communities and to serve as a tool of empowerment for women. Mukherjee is founder/editor of Lights Camera Action, an online lifestyle society magazine catering to Houston’s diverse community.
