Preppy River Oaks Store Celebrates a Texas Milestone: New England Fabulous and Ready to Party
By Shelby Hodge //
Everyone covets invitations to a J. McLaughlin party, particularly at the River Oaks Shopping Center store that feels as much like a lovely home as a retail space. So it was that a jolly group gathered on West Gray for a Sip & Shop evening celebrating the company’s five year anniversary in the state of Texas.
That would be five years both in River Oaks and in Dallas. More reason to celebrate, the retailer of all things contemporary preppy and New England fabulous now has seven stores in the Lone Star State.
Ever the congenial hosts, store manager Tyler May and district manager Jana Houston were joined in the celebration by a duo from headquarters in New York — Blair Beal, director of corporate visual strategy and presentation, and Olivia Willcox, manager of retail marketing and events.
Three local ladies served as official hosts. Mimi Kerr, Izzy Schulte and Caroline Schulte welcomed guests to the fête that partnered with the Houston Area Parkinson Society. Fifteen percent of all sales on the evening were directed to HAPS.
For this event, the store tapped a’Bouzy and Macaron by Patisse to provide sustenance. While the foods were certainly tempting, there were those must-have fall fashions that had both the ladies and gents filling up their shopping bags — all for a good cause and a better closet.
PC Seen: Caroline Kerr, Mimi Prioleau, Michelle Ramsey, Brenda Sauls, Sofia Frommer, Chris Castillo, Olivia Wilcox, Marnie Greenwood, William Finnorn, Lynn Staley, Wallace Green, Wade Green, Kathleen Crist, Madelyn Perry, and Pat and Bruce Wallace.
