Legendary Houston Mansion Shown Off
Step Inside the First Lady of Texas’ Iconic Home
By Hannah Swiggard //
The doors of Houston’s premier estate and historic mansion (the longtime home of Ima Hogg) will open up for “Sip & Stroll”, an evening of self-guided tours through its lush gardens, beautiful interiors and unique treasures. While you’re at the iconic Texas house, take a break on the Diana Terrace with light refreshments, including beer, red and white wines, and cheese, pretzels and assorted seasonal fruit.
Hogg, a legendary philanthropist and collector, gifted her estate — now Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens — to the MFAH in 1957. Its more than 20 rooms showcase the evolution of American style and taste from 1620 to 1876. The mansion is situated on 14 acres of manicured gardens and woodlands at 6003 Memorial Drive, and is open year-round to visitors.
Stroll the grounds and let the workday melt away as you explore this true Texas treasure.
