Lublu // David Sutherland // Flora Award

BY Jane Rozelle // 11.12.14

Commemorating the one-year anniversary of her flagship store, designer and founder Kira Plastinina invited friends, clients and guest to the chic boutique Lublu to toast a very successful year. Partygoers donning their favorite Lublu outfits converged at the Plaza at Preston Center for an evening of champagne, confections from Tart Bakery and the chance to pose for a fashion illustrator, who sketched their fashionable frocks. Later that week, decor enthusiasts made their way to the Dallas Design Center for a decorative fête celebrating the fresh new face of the David Sutherland Showroom. Sutherland greeted the crowd as they perused the newly revamped rooms — stopping to talk shop, of course, while snacking on sumptuous hors d’oeuvres compliments of The Food Company. Architect Lionel Morrison autographed his newly minted monograph, which was available for review. The next night, a charitable set assembled at the Texas Discovery Gardens in Fair Park for the 2014 Flora Award. Chair Stacey Beck welcomed patrons and supporters to the black-tie affair that honored Suzy and Tom Rhodes for their dedication to the botanical institution at Fair Park. Sharing their gratitude, the award recipients thanked the crowd before enjoying live music by the Steve Bayless Orchestra.
