What: KidneyTexas Inc. 2017 The Runway Report Transforming Lives

Where: Brook Hollow Golf Club

PC Moment: We’ve always held the belief that fashion can change lives, but the KidneyTexas Inc. 2017 The Runway Report Transforming Lives fashion show and luncheon proved just how true that can be. The stylish annual event raised over $144,000 for local efforts to improve the ability to diagnose and manage kidney disease.

The afternoon at Dallas’ Brook Hollow Golf Club began as local news anchor Ron Corning took the stage – using a rhinestone-studded crutch gifted to him shortly before – to introduce luncheon chairs Susan Russell and Christine Martin. Martin is one of many whose life has changed thanks to advances in research and treatment. She shared her incredible story, along with those of McKamy Tiner, a young boy named Vinny Trezza, and KidneyTexas Inc. president Andrea Alcorn’s mother.

After some inspiring words, models took over the runway in the hottest fall trends from Tootsies. Fashion show producer Jan Strimple put together a lineup of eye-catching evening looks. There were plenty of wintery velvets, daring laces and shimmering gowns – but the finale look was the true show-stopper. One model in a curve-hugging floral was covered in dozens of the organization’s signature blue butterflies, from her sky-high hairdo to her elegant hem.

After the runway was clear, the bidding war began. The live auction included covetable items like a Judith Leiber butterfly evening bag and a dinner for 50 catered by Mr. Mesero. A friendly luncheon, complete with chocolate butterflies, wrapped up the glamorous event.
