PC Moment: Supporters and patrons of Dallas-based The Moody Foundation and Parkland Health & Hospital System recently gathered to fête the foundation’s $15 million donation, which will help build a new comprehensive breast center.
Aptly named the Moody Breast Health Center at Parkland, the facility will allow patients to access all breast health services (screenings, surgery, follow-up care, et. al) under one roof, instead of in 10 separate locations — as they must do currently.
“For thousands of patients per year, the Moody Breast Health Center will speed up the time between screening, diagnosis, and treatment,” said Frances Moody-Dahlberg, chairman and executive director of The Moody Foundation.
“Faster treatment will help save more lives. The Moody Foundation is proud to help more breast cancer patients become breast cancer survivors.”
Moreover, the center will offer advanced tomosynthesis screening technology and expanded genetic counseling. It will also have an in-house multidisciplinary team working to improve continuity of care while also striving to achieve national accreditation.
Of the $40 million Parkland hopes to raise for the center, $30 million has been achieved thus far — $15 million from The Moody Foundation and $15 million from other community donors.
