PC Moment: Retired FBI profiler John Douglas, aka the “Mindhunter,” kept the throng of more than 370 spellbound as he recounted his work studying  the nation’s most gruesome murders and crime cases and talked about his corresponding with the culprits. The founder of the FBI’s Behavioral Science Unit was inspiration for the Netflix’s Mindhunter series.

A powerful trio, known as “Leading Women for Public Safety,” chaired the evening that brought in more than $433,000 earmarked for crime solving and prevention. Taking bows for the evening’s success were chairs Donae Chramosta, Maha Khan and Jerri Duddlesten Moore and honorary chairs Brigitte Kalai and Dr. Sippi Khurana. In their remarks, the three chairs were joined by Bella Chramosta, Crime Stoppers newest youth ambassador, who spoke on how crime and school threats have affected her life.

Crime Stoppers number one media hero Dave Ward began the program that included a moment of silence for fallen Harris County Deputy Sandeep Dhaliwal. The evening was then in the hands of emcee Dominique Sachse. Crime Stoppers CEO Rania Mankarious took the stage to talk about the alarming rate in which violent felony offenders are being released back into the community without serving proper time.

Three that went home very happy at evening’s end were Jan Bartholomew and Dave Wood, who won the raffle for the 2019 Jeep Renegade courtesy of Alan Helfman, president of River Oaks Chrysler Jeep Dodge, and Andrea Hellyer, who won the Hermès Birkin bag, compliments of Donae Chramosta of The Vintage Contessa and Times Past.
