What: The fifth annual ReuNight benefiting The Family Place
Where: The Statler
PC Moment: Having sought to pay homage to past and present Dallas icons and community shapers, co-chairs Jennifer and Richard Dix and Kristi and Ron Hoyl hit the nail on the head. As they walked into the lobby of the newly revitalized Statler hotel, guests were transported back to a time of glamorous evenings, Mid-Century style, and Hollywood llamas.
A cocktail cart near the courtyard served Manhattans as well-dressed attendees lined up for a photo with the Statler’s most fabulous former guest: Llinda Llee Llama. Llinda Llee – once called the Grace Kelly of llamas – happily posed with fans including Lynn and Allan McBee before she had to slip out for another engagement.
As one of the first events held at the famed hotel in almost 20 years, the occasion felt steeped in lingering 1950s magic, as if other former patrons like Frank Sinatra or Coco Chanel could have walked in to join the festivities at any moment. And, once the multi-talented Jordan Kahn Orchestra started crooning “Fly Me to the Moon” in the Grand Ballroom, a double take was certainly required.
Before the crowd danced the night away, they enjoyed a three-course dinner with wine pairings including a golden beet salad, a pork belly and sea scallop duet, and a Parisian opera cake with coffee buttercream and gold leaf.
