A Dallas College’s Iconic President Wins a Prestigious Leadership Award
Joins Laura Bush, Other Powerful Previous Honorees

PC Moment: Since it was established in 2005, the Robert S. Folsom Leadership Award and the events surrounding it have raised more than $14 million to benefit Methodist Health System’s programs and services. On October 3, more than 80 sponsors of the award were welcomed to honor this year’s recipient, Southern Methodist University’s longest-serving president R. Gerald Turner.
He was recognized for representing Bob Folsom’s legacy of love and commitment of service to the Dallas community, and now joins a prestigious group of former recipients, including fellow SMU alumni Nancy Ann Hunt, Bobby Lyle, and First Lady Laura Bush. In honor of Turner’s passion for education, all funds from the event go to the Methodist Dallas Medical Center Golden Cross Academic Clinic and graduate medical education as a part of an effort to serve an ever-increasing number of disadvantaged families in the Dallas community.
