Where: On the field at Minute Maid Park
PC Moment: With the Houston Astros on the road, it was the perfect day for a bit of running the bases and batting practice for youngsters who may or may not be tuned into our 2017 MLB champs but who surely know how to burn off steam. And who among them didn’t love the photo op with that wacky green Houston Astros mascot Orbit?
The family friendly activities included ballpark tours, face painting, trackless train rides, custom baseball cards, balloon art and lots of kid-friendly food and drink. It was truly a field of dreams for the youngsters and their parents.
High fives for chairs Rachel and Adam Dunn, who were joined by their kiddos Brady, Mackenzie and Elizabeth. More than 650 poured in for the afternoon that was cohosted by the Texas Children’s Ambassadors and the Astros Foundation.
Funds support the Texas Children’s Hospital‘s Child Life Program, the largest in the nation with 50 child life professionals on staff. The afternoon amassed a heap of coloring books, crayons, markers, play-dough, Legos and more employed to help relieve the stress of young patients at Texas Children’s.
