Tony Buzbee‘s beef with the “hogs in charge” at City Hall isn’t the only animal issue on the mayoral candidate’s mind. He’s also worked up over Houston’s homeless/stray animal problem and to make his point Buzbee and his steady gal, Frances Moody, hosted a “Pet Rally” at NettBar.
Pets and pals included.
The couple’s goal was to inform Houstonians about the problem, introduce them to agencies working on behalf of animals and discuss Buzbee’s plans, as mayor, to humanely tackle the stray population. The issues were discussed over drinks and bites from Tacodeli, while the canines munched on dog cookies from The Doggie Express and dog cupcakes by Craved Creations Bakery.
In addition to the 250 folks and close to 100 pooches that turned out, the duo was joined by representatives from a number of rescue organizations including Citizens for Animal Protection, Habitat for Horses, Gulf Coast Cocker Spaniel Rescue, Great Dane Rescue of Southeast Texas and the Rescued Pets Movement, each with booths introducing their efforts. Several of them brought dogs that were available for adoption or in need of fostering.
Special guest was Habitat for Horses’ miniature dwarf horse, Munchie. We are told that his presence had most of the dogs confused because Munchie thinks he’s a dog.
Happily, the four-legged friends got along famously. No major dog fights. No barking outbursts. But, yes, lots of sniffing and curious nips.
