What: Turtle Creek Association’s Gala and Tour of Homes

Where: Virgin Hotels Dallas

PC Moment: The Bentley and Aston Martin from Avondale Dealerships parked out front set the scene— a very glamorous evening awaited guests of the 7th annual Turtle Creek Association Gala. URBAN Team, Kyle Crews and Ani Nosnik, an Allie Beth Allman, Berkshire Hathaway Affiliate, served as presenting sponsor for the event, which was held the night before the organization’s cherished Tour of Homes. Sharon & Maurice Ballew chaired the lushly decorated, tropically-themed soirée, with Carolina Pace serving as honorary chair.

The gala honored two couples — Elyce & David Walthall and Stacie & Dr. Stephen Worsham — with the President’s Circle Award for their steadfast dedication to Turtle Creek Association. “These are the people who go far beyond what is expected,” Turtle Creek Association President and CEO J.D. Trueblood said. “They don’t simply support our work; they help us imagine something greater and then stand beside us until it becomes real.”

Impact: The Turtle Creek Association’s mission is to preserve, protect, and enhance the scenic beauty and environmental health of the beloved corridor. In the spring, the organization hosts its Azalea Luncheon. During the glamorous gala, Trueblood shared an urgent message about the future of Turtle Creek.

“Our partners at Dallas Parks and Recreation are facing significant budget cuts. They are being asked to do more with less — and, as a result, so are we. If we want the Turtle Creek Corridor to remain clean, safe, and beautiful, Turtle Creek Association will have to take on even more of the work required to care for it. That means more landscaping, more tree care, more irrigation repairs, more trash removal, and more attention to the daily needs of the corridor,” said Trueblood.

With an anonymous philanthropist matching donations dollar for dollar (and without a cap!), guests answered Trueblood’s call. The successful evening culminated on the dance floor, where guests cut a rug to Emerald City’s Limelight Band.
