Twisted Fairy Tales Will Come To Life When This Arts Center Bash Gets Rolling
By Errin Maye & Matthew Ramirez //
More than three decades ago The Orange Show Center for Visionary Art created a brave new world for Houstonians to gather, promote, and foster the eccentric world of Houston art. Every year the non-profit calls on friends, family, philanthropists, and artists to come together and celebrate the center, typically with a loud-and-proud theme, encouraging those in attendance to dress in outlandish but chic threads given the gala’s theme.
Gala chairs Magda and Ed Wilson and Carter Ernst and Paul Kittelson are ushering in The Orange Show’s 36th Annual Gala, Saturday, October 28th at Crowne Plaza NRG. The magical evening’s theme offers a riff on numerous fairy tales, from “Cinderella” to “Rapunzel.” In from Oakland, the bouncy, New Orleans-inspired rhythm-and-blues jazz of The California Honeydrops will take the stage and take wonderfully eclectic partygoers well into the night. As a bonus, 5 percent of silent auction sales will go towards Houston Arts Alliance’s Harvey Arts Recovery Fund.
