Executive Power Women Dance in the Aisle at a Chic River Oaks Boutique
This Isn’t Your Mom’s United Way Party
By Shelby Hodge //
What: United Way Women’s Initiative soirée
Where: Events River Oaks
PC Moment: Sipping champagne and dancing in the aisles of the chic River Oaks gift boutique to the Motown sounds of Lewis Lamb is not your typical United Way gathering. But this was the United Way Women’s Initiative evening hosted by Events owner Regina Garcia. She pulled out the stops for around 100 executive women who earn membership in the exclusive group through generous financial commitments to the United Way.
Networking and schmoozing at this very high level is one of the perks of membership. And what better pre-Thanksgiving place to socialize than surrounded by the glittering holiday decor of the luxe gift, home decor and stationary emporium.
A clever hostess and retailer, Garcia had all bases covered with the personal appearance of New York jewelry designer Freida Rothman and the musical finale of University of St. Thomas music student Ben Torres performing his rendition of “Ava Maria.”
Joyful revelers: Women’s Initiative co-chairs Sue Kean and Cassandra McZeal, Cherri Carbonara, Diana Hudson, Freida Rothman, Lisa Appleby, Cindy Burns, Samina Farid, Sue Payne, Val Gibbs, Beth Wolff, Jane Jones, Harriet Hart, Becky Rush, Hallie Vanderhider and Anna Babin, United Way president and CEO.
