Jim Crane’s Wife Puts on the Razzle Dazzle, Setting the Stage for a Sparkling October

A Bling and Bubbly Sneak Peek With Whitney Crane

When Whitney Crane (as in the Houston Astros Crane) agreed to chair the Memorial Hermann Razzle Dazzle luncheon along with Tenenbaum Jewelers’ Tony Bradfield, her calendar was not yet up to date. You see, the October 10 luncheon is in the same time frame as the Houston Astros gallop through the playoffs (fingers crossed) and the same week as the revived Houston Open golf tournament, both under the auspices of Jim Crane (as in Whitney’s husband).

Ouch.

Despite whatever row over the date collision might have taken place in their River Oaks home, both Cranes wore authentically happy faces at Monday night’s Razzle Dazzle kickoff at Tenenbaum Jewelers. And who could have predicted that those smiles would light up their faces throughout the night as the Astros battered the Oakland A’s in a 15-0 rout. The 7:10 pm start time of the game at Minute Maid Park predicated a 5:30 start time for the champagne-and wine-infused social.

Even with the traffic crush on Westheimer at its daily peak, the turnout was generous, as who doesn’t enjoy bling-viewing over bubbly. Keeping it all in the family, catering for the fête was contributed by Monarch Hospitality, another jewel in the Crane cache, this one affiliated with Crane’s Potente restaurant, which is located across the street from Minute Maid Park.

On display for guests’ perusal were in-the-pink (a nod to the Memorial Hermann Breast Care Center) fashions from Tootsies and Buccellati jewels. A pair of stunning 18K gold and diamond “Daphne” floral earrings, donated by Tenenbaum, will be up for auction at the luncheon, which will take over the Post Oak Hotel.

In celebration of Razzle Dazzle’s 10th anniversary, the foundation has tapped the fabulous Reba McEntire as guest speaker at the luncheon which raises funds for the Bobetta C. Lindig Breast Care Center at Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center. Lindig will be  honored for her vision in creating the center that bears her name.
