By Catarina Williams //
The Spring Biannual Art Sale & Stroll unfurls on Saturday, April 22. Nestled in the Washington Avenue Arts District, this uber anticipated Earth Day festival presents a silent auction of eclectic artist-embellished birdhouses.
The avian roost collaborations are a two person pairing, one Sawyer Yards resident artist with another artist or a public figure. Odd bird pairings featured include Mayor Sylvester Turner/Nicola Parente, Rod Ryan/Taft McWhorter, former Mayor Annise Parker/Michael Golden, David Adickes/Justin Garcia, Sharon Koprova/Chris Silkwood, chef Monica Pope/Susan Tietz, Heights realtor Bill Baldwin/Patrick Palmer, and weatherman Frank Billingsley/April Murphy. Bids begin at $100 and appropriately benefit the Houston Arboretum & Nature Center.

More than 300 artists will also open up their studios to display a range of media such as sculpture, photography, jewelry, paintings, ceramics and glass. Watch for headliners such as Soody Sharifi, Carol Simon, Claire Cusack, Janavi Folsmbee, John Bernhard, Lily Gavalas, Nicola Parente, and Syd Moen, and more.
