The Best Galentine’s Day Activities
Where To Go When You’re Not Feeling the Love in Dallas
By Natalie Gempel //
Valentine’s Day is very soon. We’ve already covered where to celebrate with your significant other, but this holiday isn’t just for couples! I mean it sort of is, but whatever. Being single doesn’t mean you need to dread February 14th.
There are plenty of fun, unromantic ways to celebrate in Dallas. It is, after all, 214 Day, the unofficial holiday of the city’s most famous area code, which seems equally as important as V-day. So, embrace your singleton status and have a good time!
Here are a few suggestions…
Puppy Love at Mutt’s Canine Cantina
Who needs a bae when you have a pup? Show some love to man’s best friend at Mutt’s Canine Cantina this Valentine’s Day weekend.
The dog-friendly bar is hosting a special event and fundraiser benefiting the SPCA of Texas on Saturday from 12 to 4 p.m. Find puppy love among the adorable, adoptable dogs from SPCA (special adoption rates will be available to attendees that include spay/neuter, current vaccinations and microchip).
There will also be a puppy kissing booth with donations going to the SPCA of Texas, Valentine-themed treats from Glazed Donuts and brews from NoCoast. Grab a Tito’s Mule while you’re there – 100 percent of proceeds from the sales of the cocktail will go to SPCA of Texas.
214 Day at Spinster Records
Do you love your city? Prove it at Spinster’s 2nd Annual 214 Day Party, where you can get $25 Dallas-themed tattoos. DJ Sober and DJ Tim Funatik will provide the jams, Deep Eddy Vodka will provide the drinks, Electric Kitchen will provide the snacks, and Coco Andre will provide the chocolate.
Shred Your Ex at Bowl & Barrel
If you’ve recently had your heart broken, Valentine’s Day may bring up some real feelings. Making the best out of the holiday by adopting a cute dog or getting a Dallas-centric tattoo is one option of dealing with this – but sometimes you need to embrace the heartbreak.
If that’s the case, head over to Bowl & Barrel for a therapeutic evening of free food and ex shredding. Seriously, bring a picture of your ex to shred and you’ll be rewarded with hors d’oeuvres. Specialty cocktails, beer, wine and whiskey will be on deck.
