Two Austin drivers are keeping things weird — and embarrassing. A unique Texas road rage video is going viral because it is… funny.
Road rage is rarely a laughing matter of course. But two would be tough guys made this often deadly trend near comical because of how bad their fighting technique was.
Kelii Marie Williams caught the amusing I-35 episode on camera. For 56 seconds, Williams got her kicks by watching these guys’ kicks — their half-hearted fighting technique.
“Mmm, mmm, mmm. These two men acting a fool,” Williams narrates in the video. “Too old, bruh. Too old!”
Warning: if you’re here for violence, stop scrolling. This is the tamest battle in recorded history. It’s not often road rage inspires giggles. But hey, apparently anything really can happen in 2018.
Monday’s road rage incident was mad. Mad like angry, and mad like crazy. It was low-key fury in action, more lackadaisical than livid.
Williams saw an SUV swerve from the middle lane of the three-lane highway into the left one, with a sedan hot on its heels, blocking traffic.
“I pulled my phone out because when the man just stopped his crossover halfway on the interstate, he initially came out swinging his hands,” Williams tells PaperCity. “When I saw the second driver in the blue shirt pull over behind him I knew something was up.”
It’s hard to say what that something was. The two men began kicking each other lightly, testing to see if the other was going to make real contact.
“I thought they were going to actually really fight, but after watching them go back and forth with their legs, I knew nothing was going to come out of this,” Williams says.
No punches were thrown. There was no shoving, no pushing. It would be impossible for blood to be drawn in this mild-mannered scenario, unless one of the guys lost his balance and fell over.
“I have never seen any man, let alone children fight the way they were!” As you’ll see in the video, it was almost like they were taking turns,” Williams says. “Like a pair of young brothers — you stop! No, you stop!
“I just knew that I had to capture this on my camera and show my mother.”
At the time, Williams would have put her money on the instigator. “I actually thought the guy in the SUV was going to win,” Williams says. He was holding court at first, intimidating the sedan guy into scooting back.
But before long, the sedan owner scares him to scooting. The two men are blocked by the car in the video, but it’s easy to see they’re doing more of the same.
In less than a minute, the unconventional intimidation tactic triumphed. SUV man retreated and sped off.
The Video’s Aftermath
No one was injured during the making of this video, though Williams’ privacy took a minor fender bender hit. Since the video came out, Williams has been flooded with messages and friend requests. She says she only posted it publicly after it leaked from a private group where she initially shared it.
The video had already drawn more than 4,000 likes, 10,000 shares and 958,000 views on Facebook by Thursday evening.
But overall, Williams is happy to have shared it, and thrilled her mom got to see it. We’re not so sure about the drivers, though.
After going viral, they’re probably both kicking themselves.
