Public School 214 opens at West Village • Twenty Seven Supper Club

BY Roni Proter // 02.03.15

PS214
Public School 214 also opened for lunch, dinner and weekend brunch in Uptown’s West Village. The Gastropub has 24 beers on tap and artisanal cocktails

to complement the American menu of seasonal chef-driven dishes.

Supper Time
From famed Underground Dinners chef David Anthony Temple comes Twenty Seven, which opened January 29. The restaurant at 2901 Elm Street offers only two prix-fixe options: a three- or six-course dinner (with seating at 6 and 8:30 pm, respectively). Diners can choose from a menu of vegetarian, wild game or pescatarian; the rest is in the hands of chef Temple. Reservations only; open Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Who’s Got Your Goat
Rodeo Goat Ice House has opened a second location, this one in Dallas. Like its Fort Worth counterpart, the Design District restaurant has a large patio and private dining area called The Pen. Led by chef Kyle Baker (former sous chef of The Meddlesome Moth), the casual beer-and-burger spot offers more than a dozen different burgers and 23 beers on tap.

Gaining Momentum
Café Momentum, the restaurant that teaches young adults who have struggled in juvenile facilities how to work in a restaurant environment, opened last week at 1510 Pacific Street at Akard. Trainees work through every aspect of the restaurant, from sous chef to waiting tables, while diners experience gourmet dishes such as smoked carrot pappardelle and beef braciole.

Before TGIF …
Starting now, make your way to the lobby of The Joule Hotel for First Thursdays. What better reason to skip rush-hour traffic than live music, complimentary valet, house-made bar snacks and drink specials from 6 to 8 pm on the first Thursday of each month. David Grove from Spinster Records will guest-DJ, and the Taschen Library will be open late.
