Jennifer Lopez, Closeted Houston Astros Fan?

Mega Star’s World Series Drop In Leaves Little Doubt Which Team She’s Rooting For

Houston doesn’t have the endless role call of celebrity bandwagon fans that the Los Angeles Dodgers love to boast about. But we do, unexpectedly, have J-Lo.

Jennifer Lopez is in Houston for the World Series because her boyfriend Alex Rodriguez is a major part of the pre- and postgame shows on Fox. But while watching Game 3 from Fox’s club level perch, the international mega star showed a clear preference for the Astros. Lopez came out of her seat during the Astros’ four-run barrage against Dodgers starter Yu Darvish and could be seen by nearby Astros fans seemingly clapping for Houston throughout the game.

Apparently, no one ever told Lopez that there is no cheering allowed in the press box.

Lopez sat in the side of the Fox set, not far from her beau, who was working (and obviously not cheering for either team). It’s hard to fault Jennifer Lopez for her taste in baseball teams.

While the 48-year-old Bronx native doesn’t seem to have many natural ties to Houston at first glance, J-Lo’s parents are from Puerto Rico and one of the Astros’ biggest stars is shortstop Carlos Correa, the first Puerto Rican player ever taken No. 1 overall in the Major League Baseball Draft. Then again, who doesn’t appreciate Carlos Correa? (And we already know J-Lo likes shortstops.)

Astros veteran Carlos Beltran is another Puerto Rican star and former Yankees teammate of Rodriguez. Almost anyone who knows Beltran seems to want him to win a World Series.

And it’s not like the Yankees themselves are in the World Series (thanks to the Astros of course).

There is little doubt that both ARod and J-Lo keep close ties with the pinstripes. The celebrity couple took Yankees catcher Gary Sanchez to lunch earlier this season and Sanchez almost immediately went on a batting tear, which he credited to Rodriguez’s influence. Now, the idea’s even being floated that Rodriguez could be a dark horse candidate to become the Yankees new manager.

“Everything that comes from him is positive,” Sanchez told the New York Post about Lopez’s man. “We talked a little bit about defense, creating a routine, following your routine, preparing for games and we keep talking, phone calls here and there.

“And like I said, anything that comes from Alex is helpful.”

Now, that super power couple positivity seems to be directed the Astros way. At least from Jennifer Lopez. Sure, she was on her phone for parts of Game 3 (who isn’t?) But she got up whenever the Astros did something good. That sounds like a Houston fan.

Hey, J-Lo knows what a winner looks like.
