Travis Scott Turns Kylie Jenner On To Shipley’s Donuts in Whirlwind Houston Visit

Before Hopping on Private Jet, H-Town’s Rap Superstar Insists on a Sweet Stop

BY // 08.06.18

If you read GQ magazine’s cover story on Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott, it quickly becomes apparent that Jenner is the decision maker in this celebrity couple. And why not? The 20-year-old Jenner is on the verge of becoming the youngest self-made billionaire ever.

But Scott, Houston’s own rap superstar and AstroWorld historian, clearly still has some major influence on Jenner. Take her choice of donuts.

For there Kylie Jenner is — after an impromptu trip to Houston with Scott to promote the release of his new Astroworld album — posting a picture of a bag of Shipley’s donuts on her beyond popular Instagram. Jenner didn’t add a caption, she just put it up with a geotag to Houston, Texas — which says plenty.

Scott has clearly introduced the mother of his daughter to the Houston iconic donut chain. Hey, even billionaire couples don’t always need fancy treats. Sometimes a hot glazed donut from one of Shipley’s many locations is just what’s needed — especially after being out all night at a circus-themed, surprise album release party. Scott performed for more than an hour at the bash in Houston Saturday night — and gave away some of his hot Astroworld merchandise.

On the way to the private jet the next morning, the rapper and the beauty mogul apparently hit Shipley’s. The Shipley’s Scott picked? It happened to be the one on 3726 Scott Street.

Sure, Shipley’s may not be (OK, is not) the best donut place in Houston. The billionaire owned River Oaks Donuts actually won PaperCity‘s best donuts reader poll. But Shipley is Houston through and through. And Scott is all about paying respect to the place that made him.

Kylie Jenner may decide how their major magazine photo shoots are going to go — with her huge glam squad entourage — while Scott stands back, having only brought one person with him to the GQ shoot (his manager). But the Houston guy will decide which donuts they get in the Bayou City.

Some things are sacred. You need to have priorities — and Travis Scott’s clearly are in order.

We're officially open in Rice Village + Montrose.
