New River Oaks Hotspots and a Hip New Barbershop for Haircuts, Beer and Adult Video Games Create Major Retail Buzz

The shopping scene in Houston is forever changing — and growing more upscale. It can be difficult to keep up with all the new stores and big events, but don’t worry: PaperCity has you covered.

— Chanel-owned French swimwear brand Eres stocking its signature lingerie and precisely cut swimsuits.

— The new Oroa, which stands next to to Steak 48, serves as the high-end shopping center’s first interiors store, and is only the second U.S. location overall for the Florida-based brand.

— Contemporary women’s brand Joie opens its 20th boutique in River Oaks District, bringing its signature collections including Joie, Joie Soft, and Joie Shoes.

Bella Rinova salon triples its size with a new 7,200 square-foot location complete with a makeup and brow bar.

Dallas-based retailer Forty Five Ten will also open its first Houston location in River Oaks District across from the Tom Ford store this December stocking collections from JW Anderson, Ellery, Marc Jacobs, Rosie Assoulin, Marc Cross, Sacai and more.

Tenenbaum Jewelers unveils its new, 6,000 square-foot store location this November at 4310 Westheimer Road.

Christian Louboutin’s first Houston boutique is now open in The Galleria. The French shoe maestro’s signature red soles for men and women line the shelves. Also making its Galleria debut, French ready-to-wear and luxury leather goods brand Céline. 

Toxin-free nail salon Paloma opens October 25 in the BLVD Place development at 1700 Post Oak Boulevard. Expect lacquers from Chanel, Dior, Deborah Lippman, Jinsoon, and more.

Austin-based Beehive Boutique has officially opened its doors at 2519 University Boulevard in Rice Village. Another Austin transport, Birds Barbershop, is set to open its first Houston location at 420 East 20th Street in December. Expect diverse haircuts for men and women accompanied by free Shiner beer, arcade games, and music.

MAI Houston
 fêtes 10 years with a three-day extravaganza — Style Turns 10 — Thursday, October 20 through Saturday, October 22. The event kicks off with a holiday market on Thursday, which features more than 15 trunk show vendors. Friday welcomes a special vintage fashion show accompanied by a bevy of door prizes, raffles, and gift certificates. Author Leslie Sinclair signs her design book, Segreto Vignettes, both Friday and Saturday.

MAI also unveils its renovated building, which now houses a revamped luxury consignment shop and a new interiors store named Axelle. The celebratory weekend benefits Houston’s Citizens for Animal Protection.

À bientôt welcomes San Miguel-based jewelry designer Bill Harris for a trunk show November 9 and 10. Gramercy Atelier follows with a trunk show on November 17 and 18, which happens in conjunction with author Rebecca Vizard’s book signing of Once Upon A Pillow

Uptown Park boutique Elizabeth Anthony hosts a Basler spring 2017 sportswear trunk show Thursday, October 20 through Saturday, October 22. Jewelry designer Clara Williams’ costume designs are on display Thursday, October 20 and Friday, October 21; Thursday, October 27 and Friday, October 28 bring a spring 2017 sportswear and evening trunk show courtesy Talbot Runhof alongside a fine jewelry trunk show and personal appearance from designer Katherine Jetter.

Rounding out the month are trunk shows from Lilly E Violetta Furs as well as Rani Arabella Cashmere and Home Gifts (personal appearance included) on Thursday, October 27 through Friday, October 29.

West Ave staple Tootsies features a Magaschoni trunk show Friday, October 21 and Saturday, October 22, followed by a Carolina Herrera trunk show Thursday, October 28 and Friday, October 29. Contemporary brand Theory kicks off November with a trunk show Wednesday, November 2 through Sunday, November 6.

Neiman Marcus highlights menswear brand Isaia Wednesday and Thursday, October 19 through 20 from 10 am to 4 pm. An Oscar Heyman trunk show rounds out the month on Thursday, October 20 at 10 am to 5 pm.

Nordstrom‘s Dior workshop ends Tuesday, October 18. Head to the Dior cosmetics counter to learn instant beauty solutions from makeup pros. Wedding designer Hayley Page takes center stage at a trunk show event Friday, October 28 through Sunday, October 30.
