Nearly 50 of Houston’s young stylish set joined co-hosts Lyndsey Zorich, Kelley Scofield, and Allison O’Neill at O’Neill’s River Oaks home for the Houston launch of Cara Cara, a New York City-based ready-to-wear collection that will be sold in specialty boutiques across the country and in Saks Fifth Avenue in Houston come spring.
Julie Workman Brown, Sasha Martin, and Katie Hobbs all earned their stripes working in the fashion industry before setting off to found their own label. Perfect for Houston’s climate, Cara Cara is a fresh, flirty new label with an injection of easy, summer spirit. Moda Operandi quickly took notice, and launched the brand’s first trunkshow to great success.
At O’Neill’s, guests sipped on coffee and Mimosas and enjoyed bites by Legendairy Katy while perusing the joyful, feminine dresses awash in tropical prints. Martin and Hobbs were in from New York, on hand to help guests select the perfect silhouette. Brown stayed back in New York, as she was working on the finishing touches of the pre-fall collection.
“This was only our second trunkshow after our debut in NYC a few weeks ago and we were blown away by the chic Houston crowd — and everyone was so nice! It was incredibly cool to see our pieces on such inpsiring women,” Hobbs says.
The spring debut collection features dresses, skirt and top sets, and swim, all in feminine, flirty silhouettes cut in cotton voile, poplin, and swimwear in recycled fabrics, ideal for a wedding, spring luncheon, or work alike.
In addition to Cara Cara, guests shopped homewares and accessories from The Avenue by Lyndsey Zorich, displayed among beautiful florals by Maxit Flower Design.
