Dallas-Based Lifestyle Brand Mi Golondrina Introduces Luxury Knitwear Embroidered by Mexican Artisans

How the Four-Piece Collection Serves as a Canvas for Art and Cultural Tradition

It’s sweata weatha, y’all.

Today, Texas lifestyle brand Mi Golondrina debuts a collection of knitwear that the brand spent a year creating alongside its artisan partners in Mexico. Through this four-piece collection, the Dallas-based brand brought together Italian wool with Mexican craftsmanship through the hand embroidery of artisan communities across Chiapas. This spirit of collaboration with long-standing partners perfectly demonstrates Mi Golondrina’s brand ethos and belief that “clothing can serve as a canvas for art and cultural tradition.”

Founder Cristina Lynch continually innovates (I loved her spicy collaboration with Houston-based influencer Natalie Steen of The Nat Note), and this knitwear collection — three sweaters and a shawl — introduces a new signature category for Mi Golondrina. Each piece, knitted in Mexico from 100 percent wool yarn imported from Italy, then traveled to Chiapas, where artisans hand-embroidered and finished each piece in their homes. Their techniques of embroidery and crochet have been passed down through generations.

Artisan communities in Chamula, Zinacantán, and Huixtán, all located in the highlands of Chiapas, each offer distinct textile traditions, so by Mi Golondrina working across the three, the brand showcases different expressions of Mexican craftsmanship in one collection. “Each piece reflects the individual hands, techniques, and communities that brought it to life,” according to the press release.

“Mi Golondrina is meant to be a brand that takes you to different places,” says Lynch. “Our artisan partners create wearable art that deserves to be treated as an heirloom. Knitwear was the natural next step for that artistry, allowing us to carry their work into a new season.”

The most classically Mi Golondrina piece is the Grey Floral Crewneck Sweater ($475), which is a heather grey wool that’s hand-embroidered with vibrant florals across the neckline and shoulders. My personal favorite piece from the collection, though, is the Ivory Turtleneck Sweater ($495) because of its balloon sleeves. The cropped silhouette with tone-on-tone floral embroidery feels supremely classic and versatile.

To celebrate the launch, Lynch, who recently returned from maternity leave after the birth of her fourth child, hosted an intimate group of women at her mother’s extraordinary Preston Hollow home. After coffee and quiche, Lynch led a cheerful conversation with fellow entrepreneur Lindsey Boyd, the founder of Lindry Lab, a brand that aims to redefine laundry and home care. Guests left with Lindry Lab’s Scent 23, a cashmere and wool wash that’s perfect for washing those new Mi Golondrina knits in the comfort of your casa. Female-founded brand alignment at its finest!

Mi Golondrina’s knitwear collection launches on Tuesday, October 20, at 10 am on www.migolondrina.com.
