Rubin Singer Swoops Into Houston Before Taking On Paris Fashion Week, Teams Up With Two H-Town Favorites

Designer Rubin Singer is returning to Paris Fashion Week at the end of September, so it would have made sense that quick trip to Houston before the big runway production would be out of the question. Singer likes to defy the expected thinking though.

So there he was, popping up at local designer David Peck’s boutique for an exclusive preview of his collection alongside jewelry designer Jill Reno (who is designing jewelry for Singer’s Paris show).

The convergence of the Singer/Reno/Peck timelines are exactly what happens when you live in the affirmative, something this trio ascribes to do.

In this case, Reno, who previously designed at Paris Fashion Week in 2025 for Phan Huy, the youngest designer ever invited by the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode to present during Paris Haute Couture Week, was introduced to Singer by a mutual friend. Between their ballet dancer pedigrees and love of design, it was a fast fashion match.

“This all happened very organically,” Singer tells PaperCity. “I really love Jill’s jewelry, and we decided to work together.”

Reno, whose collection is available at Peck’s boutique in addition to her own Houston studio, suggested he come to Paris with a host of his style-loving clients to see Singer’s show and experience the glamour of fashion week, complete with premiere access to events one only has if they are in the know. Peck lived and studied in Paris and returns to the City of Lights frequently, so planning the high fashion cultural excursion was a fairly quick oui, oui.

Sweetening the whole experience?

A sneak peek of Singer’s collection and private fittings for his runway show, and Reno’s custom jewelry to top off each look. Within four weeks, Peck had put together a luxury week-long trip to Paris, while Singer and Reno continued to collaborate on the collection.

The quick 48-hour trip was just enough time to meet clients and reveal few details of his show, set for next Tuesday, September 29 at the Palais de Tokyo near the Trocadéro.

“A wonderful guy named Bruce Sloan, said, ‘It’s time for you to show in Paris again,’ ” Singer says. “And I said ‘Ok, Ok. I will do it.’ He asked where my dream location was to show and I immediately said Palais de Tokyo. It’s an amazing space and and a dream to show there.”

Inspired by a bridge he crossed in Buenos Aires by architect Santiago Calatrava, Singer translated Calatrava’s airy, bonelike structures into his own designs for the Spring/Summer 2027 collection.

Rubin Singer’s Celebrity Hive

Singer’s signature style beautifully balances structure with volume, much to the delight of the red carpet darlings and bona fide superstars who have donned his gowns.

The BeyHive knows Singer for his work designing Beyoncé’s bodysuit for the 2013 Super Bowl halftime show and working with her on The Mrs. Carter Show world tour. But Singer also counts Glenn Close, Heidi Klum, Lucy Liu, Alicia Keys, Laura Linney and Ariana Grande among his celebrity coteries.

While we can certainly expect Singer’s trademark gowns in the mix, he alluded to a more evolved take on what is next.

“Evening wear is very specific, constricting in a lot of ways for people,” Singer tells PaperCity. “They feel like when they are in a gown or in a cocktail dress, it’s a certain kind of way of being, like it’s not supposed to be comfortable, it’s supposed to look amazing.

“My clothes are comfortable, but I wanted to apply the same approach of what I do for my couture. In sweatshirts, jeans and denim. I’m doing all these new things.”

Although mum on most details, Singer is clearly excited about the new direction and reveals that denim is the star of the show. He appreciates the fabric for its versatility and the ease with which he can execute his vision.

The Sparkle

After taking cues from Singer, Reno is approaching her jewelry designing from a fresh perspective as well. The two talk daily and feed off each other’s creativity.

“I can’t even get over that I get to create the jewelry to go back with some of the creations that are truly works of art,” Reno says. “They are so beautiful, they belong in a museum in an exhibit. Every piece he sends has an energy behind it. I’m picking up on subtle things and then I’m intuitively going back to my work bench and creating around how I’m interpreting the jewelry for each piece.”

Reno’s own work reflects her global travels, mixing gemstones with sterling silver, yellow and white gold, but this collaboration is pushing the boundaries of what she’s crafted in the past.

“I don’t want to say too much because I don’t want to give away our show, but we’re bringing in elements you have never seen before in your life,” Reno says. “I’ll give away one secret though. I’m doing some green gold, a super soft beautiful green.”

Post Paris, can Houstonians expect to see Singer back in town for a slightly longer engagement? It seems possible, especially with a denim heavy collection that’s sure to lean into the glamorous. Rodeo couture, anyone?

Rubin Singer’s first appearance in Houston dates back to Fashion Houston in November 2014 where he debuted a black-and-white collection specifically for the mini-fashion week event. Since then, he’s shown other collections at fundraising events in town.

“I have a lot of Texas clientele and always sold very well in Texas,” Singer says. “I love coming to Texas and Texan women seem to love what I do, so it’s always been a simpatico relationship between me and the ladies of Texas. Texas women love color and fashion and vibrancy and there’s a lot of affection here.”

With Singer’s return to the Paris runway, a design direction that excites him and local designer besties who are already planning the next collaboration in whatever form the trio conjures, the runway ahead is long and bright.

“There’s going to be a lot more consistency in the showing and presenting in France and United States,” Singer says. “I’m excited about showing the same thing, but in a new way. A new wearability, and a new sort of lifestyle.”
