Han Chong is Finally Getting His Due

Fashion Bloggers & Celebs Love Underrated Designer

BY Ashley McElmurry // 09.07.15

The London-based label Self-Portrait features a mixture of exquisite guipure lace with contemporary design and has officially made its way into our hearts for all of the right reasons. Designer Han Chong‘s creative campaign is nothing short of elegance, class, comfort and romance. With 10 years of fashion experience and a partnership with label Three Floor, it’s no wonder this artist chose to step out on his own and create a line that would leave a mark. Two years in the making, this delicate collection is finally getting the attention it deserves.

The guipure midi dress boasts a classic lace-and-grosgrain waistband and could be the biggest fall statement piece of them all. Without touching the floor, this dress is every bit classy (with a hint of sass), thanks to the underlying fabric that covers all the precise places. This seamless fit is loved by celebrities and bloggers alike and was recently seen on Kerry Washington at the Tribute to African-American Achievement in Television red-carpet event. Take this dress from the red carpet and work it into the streets of Houston, perhaps pairing it with a vibrant metallic leather clutch and strappy leather sandals.

On a day where black doesn’t seem to fit with your mood, lighten it up with the burgundy guipure lace midi dress. As seen on celebrity Holland Roden at the She’s Funny That Way red-carpet festivities, this dress is a stunner. With a special place in our closet for our collection of fall colors, this one is made to last. Throw your hair up, slip on your favorite Jimmy Choos and let your dress do all the talking.

Another reason we love Self-Portrait and guipure lace is the diverse variety the line has. Take the cropped jumpsuit. This elegant ensemble is perfect for any event this season. The tulle-paneled top and flared navy crepe pant come together to make this look perfect for any day this fall. As seen on Jessica Biel at her Bareitell + Bare AW15 launch event, this jumpsuit is beautiful. Try the natural look by pairing this jumpsuit with a classic nude heel and minimal make up. Don’t hesitate to pull up that hair to capture this feminine look.

While dresses and jumpsuits are stylish and grace all in one, we know that not every occasion requires a fancy dress. To fit the need of any affair, Self-Portrait’s flirty embroidered tulle peplum top offers a subtle touch and can be paired with a darling lace skirt or your most desirable pair of jeans. Add some extra flair with Tabitha Simmons Leticia perforated leather sandal or a bold-colored heel to really make this romantic style top stand out.
