Detroit’s Biggest Success Story Makes a Major Dallas Move
The Watch Revolution Winds On
By Linden Wilson Jobe //
Elegantly crafted timepieces, butter-soft leather journals, bespoke bicycles, bags, jewelry, and other hipster gifts crafted in suddenly hot Detroit stock the shelves at Shinola, which will open at the beginning of June at NorthPark Center, Level One, between Warby Parker and Sam Edelman.
Shinola products are fashioned in its Detroit-based watch factory, bicycle workshop, and leather studio. The new store will reflect that — and the brand’s growing ambition. Just a few years ago, Shinola only had stores in Detroit and New York City. Now, it has nearly a dozen brick-and-mortar locations around the country. Dallas will be followed by a new Chicago store this summer.
For spring, we have our eye on the mother-of-pearl Gail timepiece with gold hardware and guilloché texture dial ($900) and Nappa zip shoulder tote with supple leather, interior and exterior pockets, and detachable interior key fob ($895).
For keeping track of important social happenings, the Runwell planner ($26) is a Shinola staple.
