Giant Champagne Corks, Supersized Lollipops and Crazy Candy Necklaces
Welcome to Ashley Longshore’s Pop Art Party World
By Lisa Collins Shaddock //
What: Popping bottles to celebrate pop artist Ashley Longshore
Where: For Home Forty Five Ten
PC Moment: Wandering past giant champagne corks, super-sized lollipops, and colorful candy necklaces, we realized we had fallen down the rabbit hole into Ashley Longshore’s world – and we didn’t know if we wanted to come back.
Fans of the pop artist packed in to For Home Forty Five Ten to be a part of her first ever pop-up gallery and see her Insta-famous works live and in person – DJ Lucy Wrubel even took a break from turning up the volume to snag a piece of her own (she said it was either that or a new car).
Partygoers sipped Veuve Clicquot and Ashley’s “Don’t Tell Mama Martinis,” concocted with Zephyr Gin, rose vermouth, velvet falernum, and bitters.
In the center of the gallery room, a tiered, mad-hatter-esque tower offered sparkly, hand-painted macarons by We the Birds and a smattering of giant plastic pills.
In between bites, guests bid on a bedazzled Veuve Clicquot Jeroboam by Longshore to raise money for the Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center.
The artist, in a dramatic gold sequined robe, charmed guests with a personality to match her artwork – smart, bold, larger than life, and insanely fun – with a generous dash of glitter.
