Houston Billionaire Pits a Houston and a Dallas Design Firm Against Each Other In His Reality TV Return
By Shelby Hodge //
After more than 40 up-and-coming design firms from across the country threw their hats into Houston billionaire Tilman Fertitta‘s Billion Dollar Buyer ring, two firms emerged as finalists. Houston’s Martin & Brad and Dallas’ Sleek to Chic Interiors will duke it out on the premiere of the second season of the CNBC reality show, which airs at 9 p.m. central time on November 22.
The challenge presented to the two firms was to create a pastry shop from a blank 15-foot by 18-foot box on a slim $5,000 budget. However, Kara Gordon and Shannon Willis of Sleek to Chic and Martin & Brad’s Martin Ayanegui and Brad Strickland designers/architects were allowed to beg and borrow whatever necessary props they could get their hands on.
The cameras were rolling when Fertitta first met the design teams at Houston Design Center and presented the eager competitors with the challenge. The teams were given one week to build out and completely transform the blank canvas.
Viewers will learn on the show’s season premiere if Fertitta choses one of the teams to convert their prototype into reality in his current project, The Post Oak, a 10-acre luxury, mixed-use development in Houston’s Galleria area.
Stay tuned.
