Houston’s Antiques, Art and Design Super Show Takes Over Silver Street
Going Back to the Future —
By Catherine D. Anspon //
It’s HAADS time again. Houston Antiques + Art + Design Show returns to Silver Street Studios (2000 Edwards St.), and everything old is new again. We’re making a serious date with the past today through Sunday, March 17 through 19.
Producers Dolphin Promotions, fresh from presenting their Palm Springs Modernism show, curate mid-century alongside the best of the design epochs: Queen Anne, Chippendale, Sheraton, Rococo Revival, and Art Deco onward. Acquire timeless antique furniture, paintings, silver, bronzes, porcelain, Oriental rugs, lighting, vintage clothing and accessories, restored timepieces, and rare volumes.
Fifty dealers have been confirmed, including eight Houston notables: David Lackey Antiques & Art, The Antique Company, Antiques of River Oaks, Golden Chances, Gulf Coast Silver, Japan Pearl Market, LR Antique Imports, and Majolica LLC. (which also has a Paris location). International exhibitors include Montevideo, Uruguay-based Gele (European furnishings and paintings), and Panamanian dealer Really Good (Indian baskets, alligator accessories, early 20th–century prints).
Also new is an increased emphasis on estate jewels, via Jacob’s Diamond and Estate Jewelry, LZ Antique & Estate Jewelry, and Shelly Storch Fine Jewelry. First-time exhibitors include Big Blue Wreck Salvage from Denver, which offers coins brought up from ancient shipwrecks, and Art Link International (meet you by the Cortes canvas in their booth).
Stepping up as partners are The Magazine Antiques and PaperCity magazine. For tickets and more information, visit houstonantiquesartdesign.com.
