Beyonce’s First Home On Sale for $500,000 in Houston: Mathew and Tina Knowles Originally Bought it for $64,000 — Step Inside a Den of Music History
BY Annie Gallay // 08.06.18Beyonce's childhood home is up for sale.
Calling all Beyonce stans: It’s time to take the perfect peek into the private life of the megastar. Ever wonder how things first began for Houston’s unparalleled music force?
Here’s your chance to be close to some of that Beyonce greatness. For $500,000, you could live at Chez Bey — her early childhood home. Beyonce may have moved many times over since then, but there’s nowhere like home. You might even call it Irreplaceable.
Mrs. Carter moved into the approximately 3,000-square-foot brick house when she was four months old. Her parents, Mathew and Tina Knowles, purchased the house at 2414 Rosedale near the Museum District in 1982 for just $64,000.
The happy family made it their home for several years, moving just before Solange, the second Knowles daughter and a musical genius in her own right, was born in 1986.
When Mr. and Mrs. Knowles listened to the pitter patter of little feet, did they ever imagine their little one would grow up to be a superstar?
The three-bedroom, three-bathroom house near the Houston Museum District and Texas Medical Center is currently owned by a Houstonian with ties to Queen Bey. His daughter attended preschool all the way through to seventh grade with the former Destiny’s Child songstress. We’re sure they’ve got some stories — maybe ask at an open house?
The charming brick house sits on an 8,600-square-foot lot. Built in 1946, the home has never flooded in major storms. Not in Allison, Ike or even Harvey — according to the listing. The abode was even featured on BET and MTV back in the day. It’s a hop, skip and a jump from major universities and, luckily for sports and concert fans, relatively close to the Toyota Center, Minute Maid Park and NRG Stadium.
Prime features of the house include original hardwood floors, a spacious living room with an inviting fireplace, a media room, a massive backyard and a master retreat with a raised bed platform and a spiral staircase leading up to a third-floor loft.
It’s a true piece of Houston history, the home base of one of the biggest stars ever to come out of the city. Beyonce’s come a long way since her formative years at 2414 Rosedale.
See for yourself when she hits up NRG Stadium this September.
