Pillar Suddenly Shutters in Bishop Arts, Anise at The Village Switches Things Up, 2026 Michelin Guide Texas, and More Dallas Restaurant News

The Latest Local Closings, Revamps, and Foodie Events

By //

The Dallas restaurant scene is always changing. From highly anticipated newcomers to beloved spots bidding farewell to must-attend foodie events, there’s always something happening across the city. In this week’s Dallas Dish, we dive into an unfortunate closing, a restaurant re-do at The Village, the 2026 Michelin Guide Texas, and more local food news.

From the Owner of Mot Hai Ba, Bishop Arts Bistro Pillar Suddenly Shutters

One of our favorite Dallas restaurants from Chef Peja Krstic (who also owns Michelin Bib Gourmand award winner Mot Hai Ba) has sadly shuttered after almost two years in the Bishop Arts District. In 2024, it debuted in the former Boulevardier space with a shabby chic design and elevated Southern dishes with a twist. We especially loved its stellar fried chicken dish, grilled leeks, and creative cocktails.

As first reported by D Magazine, the Pillar owner was locked out of the restaurant because it owes more than $26,000 in rent and operating expenses. The Dallas Morning News says that Krstic told them that he had planned to close Pillar on September 30. Either way, it’s a loss for the Dallas dining scene, but thankfully a version of the restaurant’s leek dish and the beloved chocolate cake topped with toasted hazelnuts live on at Mot Hai Ba.

Anise Gets a Revamp By New The Village Dallas Culinary Director Eduardo Osorio

Opened in 2021 as part of the multi-million-dollar reinvention of The Village Dallas, Anise has re-debuted as a contemporary neighborhood restaurant inside The Drey Hotel at the massive apartment community. Led by recently appointed The Village Culinary Director Eduardo Osorio (who’s been Executive Chef at Meridian since last year), the former Mediterranean spot has transformed into an all-day concept featuring breakfast, lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch. Osorio is joined by Executive Chef Rene Deleon, and the menu includes highlights like:

  • Stuffed Mascarpone French Toast with blueberry compote and warm maple syrup (breakfast)
  • Morning Mezze with a seven-minute farm egg, green hummus, grilled seasonal vegetables, and focaccia (breakfast)
  • Pork Belly BLT with slow-cooked pork belly, marinated tomatoes, and tarragon aioli on grilled focaccia (lunch)
  • Eggs in Purgatory with poached eggs, burrata, San Marzano tomatoes, crispy chickpeas, and grilled focaccia (weekend brunch)
  • Peanut Butter Espresso Martini (weekend brunch)
  • Foie Gras Mousse is served with pomegranate, pickled mustard seed, and toasted brioche (dinner)
  • Cavatelli Pasta with tomato, pecorino, and guanciale (dinner)
